So it's February first. How are you doing with those resolutions for the new year?
Most people who planned to blog on New Year's resolutions probably did it a month ago. I chose an alternate path.
I didn't make any resolutions this year. People set all these grand plans and then get discouraged a couple of weeks into the year when they haven't done a thing toward fulfilling those plans.
This year, I set some goals. Without expectation that they will be completed within 30 days.
1. Get serious about photography. I've been dabbling the last couple of years. I'm not to bad behind the camera, but I have no training other than what I picked up from my father. So I am enrolling in a class starting at the beginning of March.
2. Write some more. I know I haven't been writing much, but there are reasons. And they are my own. But here I am, writing this on a Saturday night. I have a whole list of things to talk about. So I'm trying to give this blog some more attention. I'm also starting to do some professional writing.
3. Expand my professional network. I know a lot of people, but I need to strengthen my professional network in strategic ways. I'm doing that with some writing (see above), some speaking, and some meetings with people I want to know. My friend Susan and I are doing some of this together. It's a short- and long-term investment.
4. Lose some weight. Yeah, yeah. Everyone says this. But I joined a gym (again) and started Weight Watchers Online (again). I have to get serious about this. Apparently I snore, so losing some weight will help (me and whoever might be in my bed). Beside the health benefits, there's the matter of the cruise I'm taking in September. One must look good for a ship of 2,500 gay men.
How are you doing with your "goals?"
